Join our Movement

Yoga & Pilates for the People is more than a studio. It is a MOVEMENT making Pilates more accessible.

We believe teaching is relationship-based and not a performance.

That’s why individual mentorship is a huge component of our training.

When students feel seen, heard, and supported, they’re able to access a deeper level of transformation.

If you’d like to teach with heart, this training is for you.

Meet Your Instructors

Learn how to teach Pilates as healing, mindful movement from mentors who have been teaching for the right reasons since 2007!

Lindsey Hammond

Lindsey taught her first Pilates mat class in 2007 to faculty and students at Virginia Tech. Movement helped her heal after trauma from gun violence and disordered eating, and she’s passionate about creating trauma-informed, inclusive, and affirming studio environments. Lindsey took her first anatomy class at the tender age of 16 and hasn’t stopped nerding out about the human body since. She’s taught thousands of hours of classes, trained dozens of teachers in yoga and Pilates, and is proud of all of the lives her team has changed for the better.

Jen McCarter

Jen started practicing Pilates in 2010 to improve her own strength and posture, and it quickly became a key part of her life. Now, she enjoys helping others build confidence and awareness in how they move whether it's on the reformer, cadillac, or out in the wild.

“Lindsey is wonderful teacher and I have learned so much from her in such a short period of time. I have learned to not take myself so seriously and through seeing Lindsey in her own practice, I have been able to find more joy in my practice as well.”

— Silvia, Teacher Training Graduate
